Very impressed with the patient Ben Sasse, the researchers and the drug company Revolution Medicines in owning the toxicities of the drug.
Asking my smart GI friends what the nuances are of giving the drug safety.
Does everyone need prophylactic antibiotics to prevent rash. How do people minimise stomatitis and nausea. Any tricks? How are people going to dose if there is significant liver dysfunction etc..
Is there a tech way of measuring the rash to allow early intervention? Exciting times but let’s get it right.
What are the patients saying as they will really know the toxicity?
For those of us old enough to remember the big break through of Sunitinib in kidney cancer I think we could have managed the tox better.
I was lucky to have Toni Choueiri, Tom Powles, Brian Rini and others to ask, most aren’t that lucky. We need alternatives that we can use in clinic.”
