A New Tool for Pancreatic Cancer Research- NCI Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis

“The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Patient-Derived Models Repository (NCI-PDMR) recently released its first publicly available tissue microarray (TMA) panel of pancreatic adenocarcinoma tissue samples. The TMA panel enables high-throughput analysis and screening of tumors for protein biomarkers of interest.

Each TMA contains duplicate cores of 60 tumor tissue samples, along with control samples, arranged in a grid pattern on a glass slide. Each sample consists of a 1.5 mm core of patient-derived xenograft tumor tissue derived from 1 of 44 patients with diverse treatment histories collected from both primary and metastatic tumors.

This work highlights the value of NCI’s research resources to advance the discovery and development of novel cancer diagnostics and therapeutics.
