Moawia Mohammed Ali Elhassan Highlights Editorial on B-51 Trial and Regional Nodal Irradiation
Moawia Mohammed Ali Elhassan, Associate Professor at the University of Gezira, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Janhavi Venkataraman et al. published on Gland Surgery:
“Regional nodal irradiation (RNI) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is not a one-size-fits-all approach.
A recent editorial authored by Prof. Janhavi Venkataraman and Professor Kefah Mokbel in Gland Surgery discussed the B-51 trial findings, highlighting their immediate clinical implications.
The trial supports de-escalation of treatment for TNBC and HER2+ breast cancer patients.
For ER+/HER2- patients, the applicability is less clear, underscoring the need for an individualized approach.
This emphasizes the importance of subtype-specific decision-making in breast cancer care.”
Title: Reevaluating regional nodal irradiation after nodal pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy: toward individualized de-escalation
Authors: Janhavi Venkataraman, Kefah Mokbel
