Michael Hofman: Advancing Terbium-161 PSMA Up-Front Dose Intensification in Prostate Cancer

Michael Hofman,  Nuclear Medicine Physician at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, shared on LinkedIn:

“Last year we presented the results of our VIOLET first-in-human Terbium-161 PSMA trial at American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Chicago with The Lancet Group Oncology publication. We showed activity at 7.4 GBq (40% PSA-90 response) and minimal adverse effects.

Our work did not stop. We treated 12 patients starting with 9.5 GBq. This will be presented at European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) 2026 Vienna in October.

And this week, we commence Cohort C, with up-front dose intensification. First two cycles 2 weeks apart, then 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks apart. Cool?

Many thanks for all the co-investigators Dr Louise Kostos, Prof Arun Azad, Dr James Buteau our highly talented nuclear medicine team Britt Emmerson, Lisa MacFarlane, A/Prof Mohammad Haskali, Lachlan McIntosh + more.

Could not happen without our grant and industry support: Prostate Cancer Foundation for funding ProsTIC Theranostics, National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Isotopia Molecular Imaging ltd for providing Terbum-161 and PSMA-kit.
