“Interesting move from Novartis in radioligand therapy.
Novartis is reportedly scaling back development of its GRPR-targeted radioligand (¹⁷⁷Lu-NeoB) in HR+/HER2− metastatic breast cancer.
Importantly, this does not appear to reflect negative clinical data. Rather, it underscores how high the bar has become in breast cancer, with ADCs, CDK4/6 inhibitors, oral SERDs, and other targeted therapies rapidly reshaping the treatment landscape and maybe some reshuffling of priorities and personelle recently.
Radioligand therapy remains one of oncology’s most promising platforms, and Novartis has stated its commitment to the modality is unchanged.
The question isn’t whether radioligands have a future in breast cancer—but which target, which patients, and where they’ll fit in an increasingly crowded treatment paradigm.
I’m still overall hopeful for radioligands in breast cancer, but wondering where they fit in now.”
