Luca Boldrini: Can Looking at a Painting Make Us Better Radiation Oncologists?

Luca Boldrini, Chair of the ESTRO Education Council EDC and board member ESTRO, shared on LinkedIn:

“Can looking at a painting make us better radiation oncologists?

In our new perspective in ctRO – Clinical and Translational Radiation Oncology ‘Beams, arts and humanities. A new educational paradigm for the radiation oncologist?’, with Vincenzo V., we argue that arts and humanities belong at the core of our training.

Methods such as Visual Thinking Strategies build observation, tolerance of ambiguity and listening.

These are the skills we rely on at linac console and at the patient’s bedside.

The more our specialty is shaped by technology, the more deliberately we need to cultivate what is human in it.”
