Komal Jhaveri: FDA Approves Imlunestrant Plus Abemaciclib for ESR1-Mutated Breast Cancer

Komal Jhaveri, Breast Medical Oncologist, Section Head of the Endocrine Therapy Research Program shared by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, on LinkedIn:

“This approval isn’t just data – it’s more time with family, more birthdays, more milestones, more hope for our patients living with ESR1-mutated breast cancer. Nice to see NCCN endorsement and FDA approval for it.”

Quoting Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center:

“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved imlunestrant  in combination with abemaciclib  for patients with ER-positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer with an ESR1 gene mutation who were previously treated with hormone therapy.

The approval is based on results from the EMBER-3 clinical trial, led by Dr. Komal Jhaveri, a breast medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). The combination resulted in a median progression-free survival of 11.1 months, compared with 5.5 months for imlunestrant alone.
