Kimberly Buff, Founder and Executive Director at Momcology, shared on LinkedIn:
“New iSTEPPP Publication.
Thanks to advocacy by Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation, we’ve had evidence-based psychosocial standards in pediatric oncology for more than a decade. This research helps demonstrate that the next challenge is not simply establishing what good care should look like. It is ensuring families consistently experience that care.
Momcology is proud to share more results of our collaborative iSTEPPP study, with the added exciting achievement of the manuscript being accepted after peer review on its first submission without revisions!
The iSTEPPP parent data is now published in PBC.
Title: Parents of Youth With Cancer Report on Their Psychosocial Care: iSTEPPP Survey Finds Alignment and Gaps With Standards
Authors: Emily M. Pariseau, Kimberly Buff, Michele A. Scialla, Kimberly S. Canter, Lori Wiener, Victoria Sardi-Brown, Julia B. Tager, Kamyar Arasteh, Anne E. Kazak
By bringing parent-reported experiences into the evaluation of psychosocial standards, this study identifies important gaps between recommended care and what families actually receive.
For parent and patient advocates, this work reinforces the importance of including patient and family advocates not only in developing standards of care, but also in evaluating their implementation.
We are grateful to our research collaborators, nonprofit partners, and the patient-family experiences that continue to move this work forward.”
