Hassan R. Hashmi, Colorectal and General Surgeon at Las Vegas Surgical Associates, shared on X:
“A positive FIT is only the beginning. Diagnostic colonoscopy is essential to complete the screening process.
A recent systematic review and meta-analysis published in JAMA Internal Medicine included 21 studies involving 19,613 patients. Patient navigation, patient reminders, and clinician reminders were associated with higher completion of follow-up colonoscopy.
For rural communities, these findings reinforce the value of building navigation, reminders, and closed-loop tracking into colorectal cancer screening programs.”
