“A major advance in colon cancer treatment.
The FDA has approved atezolizumab plus chemotherapy for stage III mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR) colon cancer, based on the phase III ATOMIC trial published in NEJM.
Among 712 patients:
- 3-year disease-free survival: 86.3% vs. 76.2%
- 50% relative reduction in recurrence or death (HR 0.50)
A significant milestone for precision oncology, reinforcing the importance of universal MMR testing and multidisciplinary colorectal cancer care.”
