Daniel Stover: Improving Patient Understanding of Tumor Genomic Testing

Daniel Stover, Director of Translational Breast Cancer Research at Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, shared on LinkedIn:

“Patients should be supported to be active participants in their cancer care – including the tumor genomic testing that is now increasingly standard of care.

With Leigha Senter-Jamieson, Deloris Veney and team, we developed a concise 4min video to teach patients about tumor genomic testing.

We then evaluated it with 200 participants Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and Bon Secours Mercy Health.

Publication is now live PLOS.

The video is available for anyone.

Finally, we are working with OSUCCC IT to build out a platform where the video will be provided to all patients undergoing tumor genomic testing at OSUCCC.

Thanks to the participants, the amazing research team, funding from The National Institutes of Health, Healthy State Alliance and OSUCCC.”
