Ahmet Dirican, Professor of Medical Oncology at Medicana International İzmir Hospital, shared on X:
“At WCLC26, the Phase III REZILIENT3 trial evaluated zipalertinib + chemotherapy as 1L treatment for advanced EGFR exon20ins NSCLC:
- MPFS: 14.5 vs 8.5 months
- 50% reduction in the risk of progression or death
- ORR: 65% vs 40.3%
Following PAPILLON with amivantamab + chemotherapy, an oral EGFR TKI + chemotherapy strategy is now emerging as another promising approach.
The message is clear: in NSCLC, knowing that a tumor is ‘EGFR-positive’ is no longer enough. Identifying the specific EGFR variant can directly change treatment selection.”
