ACS CAN Opposes OMB’s Proposed Rule to Change Federal Government’s Grantmaking Framework

Lisa A. Lacasse, President of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), shared on LinkedIn:

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) strongly opposes a proposed rule from the Office of Management and Budget that would change the federal government’s grantmaking framework.

We advocate to ensure that the best scientific research that will advance health outcomes is funded and translated into interventions that are accessible by all.
That means a process that is transparent, grounded in science and merit based.

Several aspects of this draft rule stand in the way of those ideals, creating an opaque and non-merit-based review process, setting unclear standards that discourage research and interventions critical to improving health outcomes, generating an environment of uncertainty and ultimately putting patients at risk by slowing the development and delivery of lifesaving advances.

ACS CAN strongly opposes the proposed rule and urges the administration to withdraw it.
