Bishal Gyawali: Congruence of cancer screening recommendations between the USPSTF and the top ten US cancer centers
Bishal Gyawali, Associate Professor at Queen’s University, shared an article by Kristin Wright, et al. on X:
“Just published in eClinicalMedicine – The Lancet Discovery Science.
FREE To Read. Open Access. We find that the cancer screening recommendations from “Top Ten US Cancer Centers” are always in the direction of more screening than the USPSTF recommendations.
They recommend more screening, more frequently, start at earlier age, continue up to later age, and rarely discuss the harms. Proud of the first 2 authors- my mentees- who did incredible amount of hard work to get this published.
The first author is an oncology resident Queen’s Health Sciences who is soon transitioning to a fellow and the second author is my past undergrad student and current RA who hopefully soon gets into a med school.
Many thanks to Michelle NBCC for providing important patient perspective into this discussion, and to Kevin Knopf and Chris Booth for important contributions as co-authors.”
