According to Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the country is rolling out a collaborative information system to centralize, secure, and share national protocols for prevention, screening, diagnosis, and patient care. The initiative is meant to modernize how medical protocols are created, distributed, and used—so health professionals can access official guidance quickly and consistently, wherever they work.
Designed as a nationwide operational tool, the system will serve staff in primary healthcare facilities and specialized support services, including programs focused on tuberculosis, HIV, and viral hepatitis. The goal is to ensure everyone is working from the same reliable, up-to-date references, while improving coordination across regions.
At the core of the project is a native mobile app paired with an administrative platform. The app will let users browse protocols by program, disease area, and procedure type, with content presented as standardized operating procedures and clinical algorithms for everyday use. It will also include fast, multi-criteria search to help clinicians find what they need without delays. A key feature is the conversion of existing PDF protocols into interactive digital e-books—addressing the limitations of static documents that are difficult to update and redistribute.
Beyond viewing guidance, the platform is intended to support collaboration through discussion spaces organized by topic, hierarchy, or geography. These forums will allow professionals to exchange practical insights, share documents, and discuss current health program updates.
Security is a central pillar of the system. The ministry highlights the need to protect protocol authenticity, track updates through clear audit trails, and strictly control who can manage content. Access will rely on strong authentication, including biometric options in addition to standard login credentials.
Scheduled for February through June 2026 and funded through the Global Fund support program, the project includes technical assistance to deliver a turnkey solution—covering the mobile app, admin interface, source code, and management tools.
