Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General at World Health Organization, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”A new study from England, UK, has recorded zero deaths from Cervical Cancer among young women who were vaccinated against HPV as girls.
Since World Health Organization made the call to action in May 2018, countries across the world are rolling out the WHO Global Strategy to Eliminate Cervical Cancer – by scaling up vaccination, screening and treatment.
And today, 165 countries have now introduced this lifesaving vaccine. In fact, a single dose of the vaccine is now proving to be protective towards almost zero risk of cervical cancer.
When science, political commitment and dedicated health workers join forces, Health For All becomes a reality.”
