Loizos G. Loizou: Climbing Mount Olympus for Every Child With Cancer

Loizos G. Loizou, Head of Cyprus International Action Plan for Children with Cancer at ELPIDA Foundation for Children with Cancer, shared on LinkedIn:

“My friends,

For children with cancer around the world: From the Athens Marathons 2023 and 2024, to the Paris Marathon 2025 and now to Olympus 2026, our effort continues.

From the Marathon to mountaineering, the message remains the same: Endurance, perseverance, solidarity and love for children and adolescents facing cancer.

From September 2 to 6, we will be climbing Mount Olympus, carrying ELPIDA’s message for children and adolescents with cancer, in Cyprus and around the world.

I have the pleasure of sharing this effort with four excellent fellow athletes and fellow travelers: Elena Lena, Elina Ioannou, Andreas Antoniou and Savvas Adamou.

I thank them warmly for their friendship, cooperation, offer and many months of joint preparation, from the Marathons to this new mountaineering challenge.

With the ascent to Mount Olympus, we raise the message of ELPIDA even higher: Every child, wherever they are, deserves the opportunity for healing and life.

Through the international activity of the ELPIDA Foundation and the Cyprus International Action Plan for Children and Adolescents with Cancer, our effort is no longer limited to the children of Cyprus. It extends beyond our borders, with the aim of supporting children with cancer, especially in countries where access to diagnosis, necessary medicines and effective treatment remains difficult.

Our message and motto:

  • For every child with cancer, wherever they are.
  • Strength + Love = Hope.”
