Jigjidsuren Chinburen, Minister of Health of Mongolia, shared a post on Facebook:
“Mongolia’s breast surgery team has achieved a historic milestone!
For the first time in Mongolia, a complex two-stage operation was successfully performed: a bilateral risk-reducing mastectomy (removal of breast tissue to lower cancer risk) followed by DIEP flap reconstruction (using abdominal tissue to reconstruct the breasts) for a high-risk female patient with a BRCA gene mutation.
The 12-hour surgery set a new standard for advanced, comprehensive care, preserving not just health but also quality of life and aesthetic outcomes. The team collaborated closely with specialists from the Reconstructive Surgery Center in the Czech Republic.
The National Cancer Center of Mongolia, led by Dr. Batsukh P., extended heartfelt gratitude to the Czech doctors and wished them continued success in their vital work.
Another proud moment showcasing that Mongolian surgeons are reaching global levels of expertise!”
