Jigjidsuren Chinburen, Minister of Health of Mongolia, shared a post on Facebook:
“New Amendments to the Law on Protecting Children’s Health.
Today, at the plenary session of the State Great Khural, the final deliberations were held on the draft law proposing amendments and additions to the Law on Tobacco Control.
As a doctor, I have witnessed the lives of thousands of people changed by diseases caused by smoking – such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory illnesses. The most tragic part is that nicotine addiction is affecting younger generations, and new types of products targeting children and adolescents are spreading rapidly.
Therefore, the decision we make today is not just about a few legal clauses. It’s a choice between protecting our children or simply watching them succumb to the new wave of nicotine.
Healthy children mean a healthy future. And this starts with our decision.”
