Closing the Care Gap: Global Action for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – UICC
Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Every year, more than 400,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Early detection, effective treatment, and family-centred support can save lives – yet far too many children still face barriers to care.
UICC members are working to change this:
- Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) supports almost 60% of children with cancer in Lebanon (including non-Lebanese coming from the Arab region and refugees), with ages ranging from a few months old up to 18 years.
- Aladina Foundation (Spain) has supported over 20,000 children with cancer and their families in 22 public hospitals across Spain through comprehensive programmes including emotional, psychological, training, and research.
- Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana offers care, education, and advocacy to improve survival and support families across Ghana.
- American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO) provides information, resources, and a powerful voice for children and their families.
- Childhood Cancer International (Netherlands) unites a global network of parent and survivor groups to ensure children everywhere have access to quality care and support.
Together, we can close the gap so that every child has the chance not only to survive cancer, but to thrive in life after.”
