Being in NYC for the 25th anniversary of 9/11 last Friday was a reminder for me of why and how 100 Women in Hedge Funds/100 Women In Finance was created.
While we never spoke of it coming out of 9/11, I do think that the need for a peer community became much more pressing in its aftermath.
I’ll be forever grateful to those women (and men) who were part of the early years of the organization, many of whom remain friends today! Life takes us in different directions, but here’s to the lasting friendships from 25 years ago.”

“Twenty-five years ago this September, I was part of a small group of women who turned an organic gathering into something lasting.
We came together to build relationships, share professional opportunities and give back to the community. From those early gatherings grew 100 Women in Hedge Funds – now 100 Women in Finance.
I’m proud to have served on the founding board- and to see what this increasingly inclusive, multigenerational community has become.
My hope is that we always keep that original spirit:
-When you get into the room, hold the door open for others – and widen the conversation
-Be kind and generous. Take the call. Help solve problems
– Pay it forward through our networks. Give back to the broader community
– We never know who is watching – or how our actions set the tone for our colleagues and the next generation
