The Cancer Planners Forum Successfully Concluded in Geneva – UICC

Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:

The Cancer Planners Forum successfully concluded in Geneva. 120 participants from 54 countries, including 45 cancer planners from 42 countries gathered over two days to discuss and exchange best practices for effective cancer control planning.

Presentations on the second and final day highlighted:

  • The importance of meaningfully involving people with lived experience not only during the planning phase, but also throughout implementation, while strengthening coordination and accountability.
  • The crucial role of reliable and diverse data in informing cancer control plans and determining whether actions are having an impact.
  • Effective monitoring and evaluation measures with country insights from Sri Lanka, Slovenia and others. Takeaways include keeping the process simple, focusing on a small number of indicators and building regular reviews into the M&E framework.
  • Opportunities and risks in using AI for cancer control.

Participants left the Forum with renewed connections and practical insights. A big thank you to all speakers, participants, our partners (World Health Organization (WHO), IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ICCP), the City of Geneva, and our sponsors for making this event possible!”
