Matthew Kurian: Day 0 at ASCO 2025 and the Energy is Already Electric

Matthew Kurian, Assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Day 0 at ASCO 2025 and the energy is already electric!
Yesterday, I had the privilege of spearheading an inspiring event with several members of the Trainee & Early Career Advisory Group (TECAG) — connecting with passionate fellows and early-career oncologists who represent the next generation of cancer care.
I shared my path in community oncology, the story behind why I chose this field, and why meetings like ASCO are about more than just data — they’re about relationships and our patients.
Had the chance to meet with many rising star breast oncology fellows like Jasmin Hundal, Alexis LeVee, and Sarah Premji and already bright international breast oncology stars like Paolo Tarantino and Elisa Agostinetto (finally in person)!
The power of networking in oncology can’t be overstated. The collaborations that start in hallways, lounges, and breakout sessions often shape the future of research, patient care, and professional growth. As I said to many during the session, small connections may turn into bigger collaborations and impacts on patients lives.
This is how we move the field forward — together. Across institutions. Across disciplines. Across careers.
Grateful to be part of the conversation and excited for the week ahead!”
