Sarah Sammons: Don’t assume all stage IV cancer patients have “poor prognosis” if it impacts your decisions.
Quoting Sarah Sammons, the Associate Director of EMBRACE Metastatic Breast Cancer Program at Dana-Farber Breast Oncology Center, on Twitter:
“Inpatient consultants,
Please:
Don’t be dismissive upon consultation.
Don’t “defer to the outpatient setting” unless there is a realistic/timely plan to make this happen.
Don’t assume all stage IV cancer pts have a “poor prognosis” if it impacts your decisions.
Day 6/7.”
