“I recently had the opportunity to spend a few days with our learning partner, Dr. Benjamin Li, the founder of RCC (Rayos Contra Cancer) to discuss the 2024 program and long-term strategies. I was energized by the passion and dedication the RCC team has. They have mobilized 500+ volunteers in the US to provide free training to radiotherapy clinicians in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It makes a world of difference to impact the quality of cancer treatment for these patients. I am proud of what have been achieved and look forward to seeing much more.

Providing radiotherapy to cancer patients in LMICs is a challenging task. In addition to the lack of funding to purchase equipment, there is a significant gap in the knowledge and skills of clinicians such as radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists in these countries. This can lead to a significant gap in the quality of care provided to cancer patients in these countries.

RCC has done a fantastic job to close the knowledge gap by focusing on practical and just-in-time learning. Collaborative communities have created safe learning environments to share experiences. Through our programs, clinicians gain the confidence to provide new treatment techniques and high-quality care to patients in their countries.”

Lacy has 23 years of very diverse global radiation industry experience in running operations, developing service products, and leading transformational programs.
