Global Summit on War and Cancer 2023: Layth Mula-Hussain’s speech on Oncology and War in Iraq
The 1st Global Summit on War and Cancer took place on 14 – 16 December, 2023. It was organized by the Institute of Cancer and Crisis and OncoDaily. Renowned healthcare specialists from all over the world came together to discuss cancer issues at the time of war.
We were honored to have Layth Mula-Hussain, a radiation oncologist at the Cape Breton Cancer Center in Nova Scotia, Canada, as a speaker during the Summit where he discussed oncology care during war in Iraq.
Dr. Mula-Hussain talked about historical milestones regarding cancer and Iraq wars. He spoke about the cognitive, structural and financial barriers interfering with quality cancer care provision during the war and the development of the field in the country throughout the years.
Layth Mula-Hussain is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Dalhousie University in Halifax NS and serves as a Radiation Oncologist at the Cape Breton Cancer Center in Nova Scotia, Canada. He is also a visiting professor at the College of Medicine of the Ninevah University.
