Manni Mohyuddin: If a randomized trial fails
Manni Mohyuddin, Assistant Professor at the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah, shared on X/Twitter:
“If a randomized trial fails-
But you do a per-protocol (not ITT) analysis of a subset of patients and show that it works for them
You’ve essentially removed a huge benefit of randomization (adjusting for all confounders).
May as well call this an observational study then.”
