Prof. Solange Peters is Full Professor, Chair of Thoracic Oncology, and Head of Medical Oncology (Cheffe de Service) at the University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV), Switzerland, where she leads one of Europe’s premier thoracic oncology programs. An internationally recognized authority in lung cancer, Solange Peters served as President of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) from 2020 to 2022 and currently holds the title of ESMO Past President. She is President of the International Cancer Foundation (ICF) and the Swiss Academy of Multidisciplinary Oncology (SAMO), and serves as Scientific Coordinator and Scientific Committee Chair of the European Thoracic Oncology Platform (ETOP/IBCSG Partners), through which she holds funding co-responsibilities for clinical trial grants exceeding 100 million CHF per year. Solange Peters has been the lead or co-PI of numerous landmark international phase III trials in non-small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic malignancies, including PEARLS/KEYNOTE-091, MERMAID-1, MERMAID-2, ALEX, CheckMate 743, MYSTIC, SKYSCAPER-1, ZEAL-1, and IPSOS. She serves as Associate Editor of the Annals of Oncology and Deputy Editor of Lung Cancer, and has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed publications with an H-index of 65. She holds an MD-PhD from the University of Lausanne.
