Dr. Sarkis Meterissian is Professor of Surgery and Oncology at McGill University and Director of the Breast Center at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). A specialist in breast cancer and melanoma, he is internationally recognized for his contributions to surgical oncology and education.
He is a Past-President of both the Canadian Society of Surgical Oncology and Breast Surgery International. His research focuses on molecular diagnostics in breast cancer, surgical margin assessment using Raman spectroscopy, and survivorship interventions. He also leads projects in surgical education, clinical reasoning, and communication in the operating room.
Dr. Meterissian completed fellowships at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and New England Deaconess Hospital. He has received multiple honors, including the MUHC Physician of the Year Award and recognition by the American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators.
