Dr. Marta Salek is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist and palliative care specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where she serves as Assistant Member in the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine. Her research bridges pediatric oncology, palliative care, and global health, with a focus on early integration of palliative care, treatment decision-making for children with advanced cancer in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and optimizing quality of life for children with cancer worldwide. Dr. Salek has been an active leader in humanitarian pediatric oncology, co-founding the SAFER Ukraine Collaborative — a centralized triage system for evacuating children with cancer from Ukraine during the ongoing armed conflict. She is a recipient of the ASCO Conquer Cancer Foundation Global Oncology Young Investigator Award and the OncoDaily Yvonne Award (2025) for exceptional achievements in oncology.
