Dr. Luiz H. Araujo is a leading Brazilian medical oncologist and physician-scientist with more than two decades of experience in clinical oncology, translational cancer research, and leadership across major national cancer institutions. He currently serves as Regional Director of Oncology at DASA, Head of Oncology at GeneOne, and Medical Oncologist & Researcher at the Brazilian National Cancer Institute (INCA), where he has worked since 2006.

Dr. Araujo obtained his medical degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2004) and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Julia Kubitschek Hospital (FHEMIG), followed by a residency in Medical Oncology at INCA (2006–2008). He pursued advanced scientific training as a Cancer Research Fellow at INCA, earning both a Master of Science (2009–2011) and a PhD in Oncology and Cancer Biology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2013–2016).

An ASCO-supported international fellow, Dr. Araujo completed a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship in translational lung cancer genomics at The Ohio State University (2012–2015), where he contributed to groundbreaking research in molecular oncology and biomarker development.

Throughout his career, Dr. Araujo has held important leadership roles, including Director of Scientific Affairs at Instituto COI, Consultant in Oncology for Grupo Hermes Pardini, and President of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC) – Regional RJ. He is also an active member of global professional societies, including ASCO, AACR, IASLC, and SBOC. Since 2018, he has served on the IASLC Lung Cancer Staging Committee – Molecular Subcommittee, contributing to international efforts in refining lung cancer staging and molecular classification.

At DASA and GeneOne, Dr. Araujo plays a central role in building oncology networks, implementing precision oncology strategies, and integrating molecular diagnostics into routine cancer care. His work bridges clinical oncology, research innovation, and healthcare management, supporting the development of high-quality, accessible cancer services across Brazil.

A widely recognized expert in lung cancer, head and neck malignancies, and cancer genomics, Dr. Araujo combines scientific rigor with strong institutional leadership, advancing cancer care delivery, translational research, and multidisciplinary education throughout Latin America.
