Dr. Garik Barisovich Sagoyan is a pediatric oncologist and senior researcher with specialized expertise in the chemotherapeutic management of thoracoabdominal tumors in children. He currently serves as a Senior Researcher and Pediatric Oncologist in Children’s Oncology Department No. 1 at the Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology, under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Dr. Sagoyan’s clinical and scientific work focuses on solid pediatric malignancies, with particular emphasis on nephroblastoma (Wilms tumor), neuroblastoma, and hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes. His interests lie at the intersection of clinical oncology, tumor biology, and genetic susceptibility, contributing to improved risk stratification and individualized treatment approaches in pediatric cancer care.
He completed his medical education in pediatrics at Kuban State Medical University in Krasnodar (2010–2016), where he developed a strong foundation in child health and disease. He subsequently pursued residency training in pediatric oncology at the D. Rogachev National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology in Moscow (2016–2018), one of the leading pediatric oncology institutions in the region.
From 2018 to 2019, Dr. Sagoyan worked as a Pediatric Oncologist in the Clinical Oncology Department of the D. Rogachev Center, gaining hands-on experience in the multidisciplinary treatment of childhood cancers. In 2023, he joined the N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology, where he currently combines clinical care with research activities, focusing on chemotherapy protocols for thoracoabdominal pediatric tumors.
In addition to his medical training, Dr. Sagoyan completed formal education in economics at the Southern Institute of Management in Krasnodar (2013–2017), graduating with honors. This unique background supports his interest in healthcare systems, clinical research organization, and the efficient delivery of complex oncologic care.
Through his combined roles as clinician and researcher, Dr. Sagoyan contributes to the advancement of evidence-based pediatric oncology, with a particular focus on improving outcomes for children with high-risk solid tumors and genetically driven cancer predisposition syndromes.
