Prof. Fan Daiming is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a leading expert in gastroenterology and oncology, born on November 7, 1953, in Chongqing, China. He is currently Chairman of the China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), President of the World Association for Integrative Oncology (WAIO), President of the Asian Oncology Society (AOS), and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He has published nearly 800 SCI papers, served as editor-in-chief of over 200 monographs, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Guideline for Integrated Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer (CACA). He has received the National First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, the Master of World Gastroenterology Organisation Award, the Sackler Physician of the Year Award, the Sevia Award of the French Academy of Medicine, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress.

Research Activity

  • Basic and clinical research on gastric cancer, including the discovery of four novel tumor antigens from gastric cancer cells (named MGAgs) using modern immunological methods.
  • Development of gastric cancer monoclonal antibodies with high specificity and sensitivity targeting MGAgs using cell engineering and genetic engineering techniques.
  • Development of Immuno-PCR Technology, a serological diagnostic method for gastric cancer, pioneering specific serological diagnosis of gastric cancer, resulting in a national patent, national new drug certificate, and production license.
  • Establishment of four gastric cancer drug-resistant cell lines and discovery of a novel drug-resistant molecule (MGr-Ag), with its gene sequence cloned and included in GenBank.
  • Research on the relationship between density of MGAgs on cancer cell membranes and local immune-active cells.
  • Development of specific vaccines targeting gastric cancer antigens using gene recombinant technology.
  • Development of monoclonal antibodies targeting the bioactive site of bone morphogenetic protein.
  • Leadership of major national research projects including the 973 Program, 863 Program, key national projects, the Major New Drug Innovation program, and projects from the National Natural Science Foundation.
  • Proposal of “RetroMedical Research” (RMR), a concept of constant reflection, integrating experience, and reverse thinking to change the mindset of modern medical research.
  • Proposal of “Three-Space Health Science,” comprising Space Health Science, Human Health Science, and Time Health Science.
