Novo Nordisk and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating drug discovery and modernizing Novo Nordisk’s operations through artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.
As part of the partnership, the companies have established a new AI co-innovation hub in London, bringing together AWS engineers and AI specialists with Novo Nordisk scientists and research and development teams. The collaboration will use AI technologies alongside Novo Nordisk’s data and scientific expertise to help shorten the path from identifying a drug target to administering a potential medicine in first-in-human studies.
Novo Nordisk has also selected AWS as its preferred cloud provider and strategic AI partner. According to the company, the collaboration is intended to support drug discovery while modernizing its technology infrastructure and increasing productivity across its operations.

Novo Nordisk said the companies have already achieved measurable results from their collaboration, including reducing the time required for clinical documentation and providing AI-enabled productivity tools to more than 25,000 employees.
The partnership will use AWS technologies including Amazon Bio Discovery and Amazon Bedrock to support drug-target identification, therapy design, and the integration of genomic, imaging, and clinical data. Novo Nordisk also plans to use Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to deploy AI agents aimed at improving operational efficiency.
AWS CEO Matt Garman said the collaboration is focused on using AI and cloud technologies to help Novo Nordisk shorten drug discovery timelines, securely process complex datasets, and scale research findings across therapeutic areas.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between Novo Nordisk and Amazon. Novo Nordisk also works with other Amazon businesses, including Amazon Pharmacy, Amazon Ads, and Amazon One Medical, in areas related to how therapies are marketed and delivered to patients.
