Former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden has shared a new update on the health of her husband, former U.S. President Joe Biden, who is undergoing treatment for metastatic prostate cancer.
Speaking on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, Jill Biden said that her husband recently underwent follow-up imaging and that the results were encouraging.
“He just had scans, and they were very optimistic.”
She also reported that Biden’s prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level is currently zero, while acknowledging that his ongoing medications have been challenging.
Jill Biden also spoke about how treatment has affected her husband’s daily life, saying he is “doing okay” and continues to work every day, although his pace has changed. She said stage IV cancer “really slows you down” and noted that the combination of cancer, treatment, and aging “has taken its toll.”
Jill Biden’s comments come shortly after Hunter Biden also spoke publicly about his father’s health.
In an interview with BBC Newsnight, released on August 7, Hunter Biden described the experience of watching his father live with advanced prostate cancer, saying:
“Cancer is really hard. It’s really sad to watch.”
He said the cancer’s spread to the bones has made the disease “very painful” and “very debilitating,” while noting that his father rarely complains about what he is going through.
Despite the challenges of treatment, Hunter described Joe Biden as resilient, calling him “the toughest man I know.”

Joe Biden’s Prostate Cancer Diagnosis
Joe Biden’s diagnosis was publicly announced in May 2025, when he was 82. He had been evaluated after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms, and doctors identified a prostate nodule that required further investigation.
His office said that although the disease represented an aggressive form of prostate cancer, it appeared to be hormone-sensitive, meaning treatments that suppress or block androgen signaling could be used to help control the disease.
Hunter’s latest comments that the cancer has spread to the bones “and further” did not include details about any additional sites of disease.
