The Hellenic Cancer Federation – ELLOK is organising its 10th Annual Conference on 2, 3 and 4 February 2026, entitled “People at the Center – Building Bridges of Care”, at the Wyndham Grand Athens hotel, with the participation of leading representatives of the State, the scientific and academic community, the health industry and patient organisations from Greece and abroad. The Conference is held in conjunction with World Cancer Day (4 February) and serves as a reference point for highlighting key public health and cancer care issues, at a time marked on the one hand by international instability and growing pressure on health systems, and on the other by significant progress made in Greece in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment over recent years.
Topics
At the heart of the programme are the National Cancer Plan, health policies, value and efficiency measurement in health services, tackling inequalities and improving access to cancer care, as well as major European initiatives such as the Cancer Mission and its National Hubs.
Special emphasis is placed on public health, prevention and screening, with sessions on lung cancer as a major public health challenge, the roadmap to eliminate cervical cancer, obesity and tobacco products, physical activity and nutrition, mental health as an integral part of cancer care, as well as palliative and supportive care, focusing on the person and self‑care in demanding clinical pathways such as metastatic breast cancer and the care of adolescents and young adults.
Prevention and the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC5)
What if cancer prevention could start with simple changes in everyday life and effective policy action? This is the idea behind the new European Code Against Cancer, an initiative of the
European Commission coordinated by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the WHO, in collaboration with leading
European experts. On World Cancer Day, the fifth edition of the Code (ECAC5) will be
launched in all official EU languages.
Key theme – Digital transformation and NCMH
The digital transformation of health will be presented through the national digital health strategy, digital tools that bridge primary care and hospital care, digital solutions that support patients and caregivers, as well as the new European framework of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) for the secure exchange and use of health data. ELLOK, as the National Cancer Mission Hub (Hellenic Cancer Mission Hub), will showcase how data use, artificial intelligence and multidisciplinary collaboration can lead to evidence‑based decisions that improve patients’ quality of life at national and European level.
