Reirradiation of Recurrent Brain Tumors: Evidence and Practical Considerations – EORTC

EORTC-European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer, shared on LinkedIn:

“Reirradiation is becoming an increasingly important consideration in neuro-oncology.

A new review by the ESTRO CNS Focus Group provides a pragmatic synthesis of the available evidence for recurrent brain tumors, addressing key questions on

  • patient selection
  • fractionation
  • technical considerations
  • treatment safety

The review suggests that reirradiation can be an effective and safe option for carefully selected patients, while underscoring the need for well-designed prospective studies and rigorous reporting to strengthen the evidence base.

We thank Raffaella De Pietro and all contributors for their work on this important review and their commitment to advancing evidence-based care for patients with recurrent brain tumors.”
