Vanina Laurent-Ledru: 4 key take-aways from the session on implementing One Health at the World Health Summit in Berlin
Vanina Laurent-Ledru, Director General at Foundation S- The Sanofi Collective, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was my privilege to co-chair with Dr John Amuasi the session on implementing One Health at the World Health Summit in Berlin. The session was hosted by The Lancet One Health Commission and One Sustainable Health FORUM.
4 key take-aways:
- One Health needs to be institutionalized at country level like in Sénégal or now Brazil.
- One Health is about financing community resilience and taxes/ subsidies is the first tool to use.
- Life-long learning is critical to break siloes and create accountability from community workers to policy makers.
- “Deep Prevention” is needed before pathogens establish themselves to prevent future epidemics.
All in all, as Minister Coll-Seck stated, “it all starts and ends in the communities”.
Thank you Agnes Soucat, Runa Khan Saliem Fakir Benoit Miribel
And Dr Maria de Lourdes Aguiar Oliveira, Fiocruz | Vice President | Brazil
Dr Andrea Winkler Co chair the Lancet One health commission.”
