Nina Niu Sanford: Diagnosis and management of pancreas cancer, discussion of several ongoing trials
Nina Niu Sanford, Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, shared on X:
Pancreas Cancer 101 video.
26 minutes on diagnosis and management of pancreas cancer, including discussion of several ongoing trials.
Diagnosis: ways to obtain tissue, imaging, labs. I think more nuanced here than in other GI disease sites. All pancreas cancer patients should get germline testing. Nutritional counseling also critical for many.
How to think about resectability, which determines of course surgical options, but also potential role of RT and sequencing of chemotherapy.
Framework for management based upon tumor resectability. Some trials to know.
A plug for our NRG Oncology trial opening soon. This Ph III study assesses whether there is benefit to adding dose-escalated RT in locally advanced pancreas cancer.
Other things to know. Thanks to Shaalan Beg for discussing systemic therapy among other things pancreas cancer with me.
Radiation planning details are here.
