Bobby Koneru: Three Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) for LDRT in Knee Osteoarthritis
Bobby Koneru, President and Radiation Oncologist at POG and Affiliate Faculty at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, shared a post on X:
“Three Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) for LDRT in Knee Osteoarthritis have been conducted. Two of these trials demonstrated a notable reduction in pain levels, showcasing positive outcomes.
Conversely, one trial yielded negative results. A key similarity observed when comparing the trials is that the two positive trials focused on treating patients in the early stages of the disease (Grades 0-3), whereas the negative trial conducted by Mahler et al. included a higher proportion of patients with advanced disease, including erosive Osteoarthritis. It is worth noting that Mahler et al.’s trial had the smallest sample size among the three trials.”
