David D. W. Lee, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at University of Malaya Medical Centre, shared a post by Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation on X, adding:
“I am ecstatic to receive this quality improvement grant from Conquer Cancer and Pfizer. My aim is to improve access to clinical trials in Malaysia.”
Quoting Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation’s post:
“‘We are proud to collaborate with Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation’s EveryGrant® and ASCO’s Asia Pacific Regional Council on the roll-out of independent quality improvement grants to improve the quality of care and equity of breast cancer management in Southeast Asia region.’”
David D. W. Lee is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the University Malaya Medical Centre, a position he has held since November 2021. Alongside his clinical duties, he serves as a Lecturer at the University of Malaya, where he provides clinical instruction and training for medical students and future oncologists.
David’s expertise in clinical trials was significantly enhanced during his Clinical Fellowship in Early Phase Clinical Trials at the National Cancer Centre Singapore from June 2022 to May 2023. Under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Tan, he participated in over 40 phase 1 clinical trials, including groundbreaking first-in-human studies across various tumor types. This fellowship solidified his commitment to advancing cancer research and improving treatment options for patients.
Before his fellowship, David worked as a Clinical Oncologist at Sabah Women and Children Hospital from February 2021 to October 2021, where he provided comprehensive oncology care. His career also includes a brief tenure at Hospital Kuala Lumpur as a Clinical Oncologist from December 2020 to January 2021.
David’s extensive experience encompasses clinical research, patient management, and the development of innovative treatment strategies. He is particularly passionate about improving access to clinical trials and enhancing breast cancer management in Southeast Asia. Recently, he received a quality improvement grant from Conquer Cancer and Pfizer to support these initiatives, demonstrating his dedication to healthcare equity and quality in Malaysia and the broader region.
