David J. Skorton, President and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Bruce H. Mandt et al. published in Academic Medicine:
“Our biomedical research learners (grad students and postdocs) play a vital role in driving discovery. Yet their training pathways can involve challenges like prolonged timelines, dual roles as learners and researchers, and reliance on a single mentor.
There’s growing momentum to better address these needs through proactive approaches that foster mental health, effective mentorship, and inclusive environments. More in Academic Medicine Journal about how institutions can support our learners’ long-term success.”
