MASCC/ISOO 2025 Annual Meeting Highlights by Alexandre Chan
The MASCC/ISOO Annual Meeting 2025 took place from June 26–28 in Seattle, Washington, bringing together international experts in supportive cancer care. With the theme “Informed Decisions in Supportive Cancer Care,” the conference highlighted critical developments in managing chronic and emerging toxicities associated with cancer therapies. Key topics included financial toxicity, the repurposing of established medications for supportive care, and navigating the balance between treatment risks and benefits in the context of evolving cancer treatment options.
Over three days, the event featured scientific presentations, expert-led sessions, and collaborative discussions through MASCC/ISOO Study Groups. Attendees engaged with cutting-edge research and practical innovations aimed at improving quality of life for cancer patients worldwide. The meeting also provided a platform for professionals to share their own work and strengthen global networks in the supportive care community.
Alexandre Chan, President Elect of The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), shared some insights from MASCC/ISOO 2025 Annual Meeting.
“Kicking off MASCC25 with a powerful plenary session addressing Financial Toxicity (FT) in Cancer Care. Great to share the stage with Fumiko Ladd Chino and Jennifer Dent to discuss how FT impacts cancer care and how The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) can lead the membership to address FT.
Thanks, Gary Lyman and Raymond Chan, for chairing the session! And please read more about our FT survey in cancer supportive care.”
Future Collaborations Between MASCC and Chinese Supportive Care Practitioners
“This afternoon the MASCC leadership hosted colleagues from China at a special session at MASCC25 today – with the goal to foster future collaborations between The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) and Chinese supportive care practitioners.
And of course I had to deliver a lecture in mandarin on the latest advances in cancer supportive care to the audience! I am proud to announce that the talk was very well received!! Another achievement unlocked!”
