Ibrahim Sahin: Just had chance to read the full article on ‘HER2 amplified’ CRC
Ibrahim Sahin, Assistant Professor at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, shared a post on X:
“Just had chance to read the full article on ‘HER2 amplified’ CRC recently published evaluating that among patients enrolled CALBG/SWOG 80405 which was contracting what is know in the field.
Well, the devils is in the detail.
In analysis almost half of the patients were noted to be ‘HER2 high’ (see the circle in the pics) and HER2 amplification is seen only 3-4% of mCRC.
In methods per statistical analysis, HER2 expression was dichotomized as low and high using NanoString dataset.
So obviously what is defined as ‘HER2 high’ is not actually truly representing patients with ‘HER2 amplified’ CRC. It is a relative measurement of overall patients enrolled in this study.
This data should not change our knowledge on HER2 amplified CRC whatsoever.”
