Susanna Fletcher Greer: New Hope for One of The Deadliest Pediatric Brain Tumors
Susanna Fletcher Greer, Chief Scientific Officer at the V Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today I am sharing new hope for one of the deadliest pediatric brain tumors. Thanks in part to the V Foundation funded research, Dr. Volker Hovestadt and team at Dana Farber mapped the inner world of ETMR, a cancer that hijacks brain development itself. They uncovered how aggressive stem-like cells stay frozen in a “never-grow-up” state… and how we might finally break that cycle.
Their discovery? That when they blocked key tumor growth signals with drugs, including some already FDA-approved, they showed powerful anti-tumor effects in the lab and helped one young patient.
This is bold science with real potential! Read the full story in my latest newsletter.”
