Dolores Hambardzumyan: The heterogeneity and role of myeloid cells in pediatric high-grade gliomas
NCI Division of Cancer Biology shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In a study funded by our division, James Ross, Montse Puigdelloses Vallcorba, Gonzalo Gonzalez-Del Pino, Nishant Kumar Soni, Dolores Hambardzumyan, et al. showed that microglia and monocyte-derived macrophages drive progression of pediatric high-grade gliomas and are transcriptionally shaped by histone mutations.
Additionally, their mechanistic studies revealed that inhibition of CCR1 and CCR5 (chemokine receptors) reduces macrophage infiltration and extends survival in preclinical models of brain tumors.”
Dolores Hambardzumyan, Professor at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, reshared the post LinkedIn, adding:
“Thank you to NCI Division of Cancer Biology for funding and for emphasizing our recent research on the heterogeneity and role of myeloid cells in pediatric high-grade gliomas.
We also extend our thanks to The Cure Starts Now Cancer Foundation. This work was only possible with your support.”
