In his role at GeneOne, Dr. Araujo leads a team focused on advancing cancer care through innovative treatment approaches and comprehensive patient support, ensuring that the latest advancements in oncology are accessible to those in need.

Dr. Araujo’s journey in oncology began at the Instituto Nacional do Câncer in 2006, where he has served as both a medical oncologist and researcher.

His extensive clinical experience has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of cancer treatment, patient management, and the complexities of oncological diseases.

Throughout his tenure, he has been involved in numerous research projects, contributing to significant findings that have informed and improved treatment protocols.

His passion for patient care drives his commitment to ensuring that each individual receives the best possible outcomes.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Araujo actively participates in several prestigious professional organizations.

He became a member of the International Affairs Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in June 2022, where he collaborates with international colleagues to promote global initiatives in cancer care and research.

His involvement in the Lung Cancer Staging Committee’s Molecular Subcommittee with the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer since April 2018 highlights his commitment to addressing critical issues in lung cancer research and staging.

Between January 2018 and August 2021, Dr. Araujo served as a consultant in oncology for Grupo Hermes Pardini, where he provided strategic insights aimed at enhancing oncology services and patient care protocols.

His experience in various healthcare settings has allowed him to take a comprehensive approach to cancer treatment, integrating the latest research findings with practical applications in clinical settings.

Dr. Araujo has held significant leadership roles, including Director of Scientific Affairs at both Instituto COI and Americas Centro de Oncologia Integrado.

In these capacities, he focused on advancing scientific research, overseeing clinical trials, and promoting educational initiatives to keep healthcare professionals informed about the latest developments in oncology.

As President of the Sociedade Brasileira de Oncologia Clínica (SBOC) from December 2017 to December 2019, Dr. Araujo championed initiatives to improve oncology practices across Brazil.

His leadership in this role was marked by a commitment to enhancing standards of care and fostering collaboration among oncologists in the region.

Dr. Araujo’s academic achievements are equally noteworthy.

He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at The Ohio State University from 2012 to 2015, where he focused on cutting-edge cancer research methodologies and further developed his skills in scientific inquiry.
This experience enriched his understanding of cancer biology and treatment strategies, which he has since applied in his clinical practice and research efforts.

Education

Dr. Luiz H. de Lima Araujo, MD, PhD, graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 2004.

After that, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Julia Kubitschek Hospital – FHEMIG from 2004 to 2006, followed by a residency in Medical Oncology at the Brazilian National Cancer Institute (INCA) from 2006 to 2008.

Dr. Araujo then pursued a fellowship in Cancer Research at INCA from 2009 to 2011, where he also obtained a Master’s degree in Science.

He further advanced his studies with a PhD from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, completing it between 2013 and 2016.

This extensive education has equipped him with the knowledge and skills vital for his work in cancer treatment and research.
