Highlights from The 14th International Symposium on Minimal Residual Cancer by Catherine Alix-Panabières
The 14th International Symposium on Minimal Residual Cancer (ISMRC 2025), held from 7 to 9 May 2025 in Nice, France, was a highly successful event, bringing together 434 delegates and exhibitors from 38 countries. Under the leadership of Congress Chairs Prof. Dr. Paul Hofman, Prof. Dr. Catherine Alix-Panabières, and Prof. Dr. Klaus Pantel, the symposium focused on the theme “Liquid Biopsy: From Discovery to Clinical Implementation.”
The scientific program covered a wide range of cutting-edge topics, including tracing tumor evolution through liquid biopsy, therapeutic strategies for advanced carcinoma, and a dedicated ARC Foundation Session addressing cancer immunology and the role of artificial intelligence in science and medicine.
Participants had the opportunity to explore 133 scientific posters displayed at eposter terminals, which were featured in 8 guided poster tours. The vibrant exchange of ideas and the high level of engagement underscored the growing importance of minimal residual disease and liquid biopsy in clinical oncology.
Catherine Alix-Panabières, Full Professor of Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montpellier, shared some insights from the 14th International Symposium on Minimal Residual Cancer:
The Start of ISMRC 2025 Conference
“ISMRC2025 started this morning with a fully packed room. More than 350 participants in sunny French Riviera!
Wishing all an excellent meeting.”
Day 1 of ISMRC2025 – Liquid Biopsy Conference.
“On Day 1 of ISMRC2025 – Liquid Biopsy Conference in beautiful Nice, French Riviera, we had an inspiring afternoon filled with insightful talks from leading experts in the field.
It was an honour to hear from distinguished speakers including Lillian Siu, Charles Swanton, Fabrice Andre, Luis Diaz, and Rodrigo Toledo.
When the Presidents of American Association for Cancer Research and ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology share the stage—it’s a moment to remember!
We were also happy to welcome European Liquid Biopsy Society (ELBS) – Svenja Schneegans and PANCAID – Tamara Berghammer with their dedicated booths at ISMRC2025!
Delighted to have editors like Dr Elena Skourti (Nature Cancer) and Dr Cansu Cirzi, PhD (Cancer Cell by Cell Press) on board—thank you for your continued support and engagement with the community.
What a fantastic start to the conference!”
A Night of Wonder: Magic and Meaning at ISMRC 2025
“An unforgettable and improbable surprise on the first evening of ISMRC2025 – Liquid Biopsy Conference…
We were honoured to be transported into a world of wonder by the internationally renowned magician Gaël Brinet and his incredible team. What unfolded was no ordinary performance, but a breathtaking display of illusion and artistry that lit up our imaginations. After a day rich in science and intense exchange, this moment of enchantment offered us something rare—a pause in time.
For a while, we shed the weight of reality, rediscovered our inner child, and drifted into a dimension where joy and hope reigned. Together, 350 participants dreamed as one.
It was magical. It was timeless. It was pure wonder.”
A perfect close to Day 1 of ISMRC2025
“A perfect close to Day 1 of ISMRC2025.
After an inspiring and intense day of science centered on Liquid Biopsy, we had the pleasure of gathering all invited speakers for a relaxing dinner — a moment to wind down, connect, and reflect on the cutting-edge discussions that shaped the day.
The evening felt hors du temps at the iconic Hôtel Le Negresco — an unforgettable setting to continue our conversations and enjoy each other’s company.
I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the key opinion leaders in the field of liquid biopsy for their trust, presence, and invaluable contributions. It’s been a true privilege to share these three days in Nice with such an exceptional group of experts and friends.”
Day 2 of ISMRC2025 Liquid Biopsy Conference
“DAY 2 – ISMRC2025.
The sun is shining over beautiful Nice, but all eyes are inside—the conference room is fully packed! An incredible second day of the Liquid Biopsy Conference. A heartfelt thank you to all our invited speakers for their inspiring talks, and to our sponsors for their generous support.”
The e-poster Sessions at ISMRC2025
“A special highlight of ISMRC2025: the e-poster sessions, where young investigators took the spotlight with their oral presentations, sharing their own research with clarity and passion.
So proud of all the presenters—your dedication and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.
A heartfelt congratulations to my team members for their great effort in showcasing the work of our Liquid Biopsy LCCRH Lab so professionally and confidently. The future of Liquid Biopsy research is in good hands!”
Ready to embrace the final day of ISMRC2025
“After two intense days of fruitful discussions on the forefront of Liquid Biopsy, we had the joy of unwinding together at the Gala Dinner by the beach in Nice…
The sunset greeted us with its soft pastel hues, The sea whispered gently, its waves a soothing melody. Delicate French cuisine nourished both body and spirit,Filling us with warmth and energy to share laughter, stories, and joy —side by side with colleagues, collaborators, and friends.
As the stars appeared one by one, We danced freely, carried by the music and the magic of the moment, Until the moon gently reminded us
That tomorrow, the journey continues— With renewed minds and inspired hearts, Ready to embrace the final day of ISMRC2025.”
