Ivana Lorenzatti: Thrilled to be gearing up for the World Cancer Congress

“ I’m thrilled (and a little nervous!) to be gearing up for my very first World Cancer Congress in Geneva this year!

The energy is building, and I can’t wait to join my incredible colleagues and dive into our sessions on 17 and 18 September.

It’s amazing to think how much has changed since 2022, when I was working at the European Cancer Organisation, alongside Mike Morrissey.

I still remember the excitement in the air when a delegation of us, including Andreas Charalambous and Giacomo Lazzaro, was preparing for the Congress.

Even though I wasn’t there in person, the pride I felt when I saw our weeks of hard work printed and displayed at the stand was unforgettable—it was a real ‘we did it’ moment!

Since 2023, I’m part of a new chapter with the fantastic team at City Cancer Challenge, but the mission remains the same: improving cancer care for everyone.

It’s been a privilege to contribute to the extraordinary work of the C/Can team, alongside inspiring colleagues like Isabel Mestres, Sophie Bussmann-Kemdjo, Maria F Navarro, Chika Kitajima, Mathieu Morand, Fred Kwame Awittor, Rosa González León, Harold Cottin, Stephanie Shahini, Derrick Z Chan, Thet Ko Aung, Martha Ordoñez and Meritxell Mallafré Larrosa.
