Rasha Aboelhassan: The enemy is called metastasis of unknown primary
Rasha Aboelhassan shared on LinkedIn:
“Have you ever met that enemy who hides far away so that you can never see him but you can only discover and see his actions results?
Have you ever met the enemy that you can only discover his presence after metastasising in bone, brain, liver, and lung?
With him, you can never know the origin so that you can’t put any plans for effective defence actions. Even after biopsy, IHC, and molecular subtypes, we lose many patients without discovering the primary. This enemy is called: metastasis of unknown primary.
I was very impressed with the idea of the following research, whereas investigators looked for new methods for the detection of primary and discover the origin of our cancer enemy. Hopefully we all can one day.”
